Why choose handmade?
By Carolyn Shore

“Everything handmade is unqiue, has its own character, imperfections and signature. Each one is different from any other…”

Handmade is unique which is one of the major reason handcrafted items are so popular worldwide.

I love handmade, I buy handmade, I make handmade, and I sell handmade. I love the planning that goes into designing and picking out materials that makes each item unique for who it is intended for. All of the quilts I’ve made and posted on this site have been specially created and gifted to that special person.

Handmade is an expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. People who make things by hand have a true love of the artform they produce and appreciate the skill and imagination of others in their craft.

So, what really is so special about handmade?

We live in a world where many things are mass produced, and it is essential to produce goods in massive quantities to fill our needs. But it seems that more people are now beginning to embrace things that are made by hand in small quantities.

So why is handmade so special to me? Why do I spend so much time researching, experimenting and making new things? The love of the craft! But mostly the love of making things that are personal, a special gift to someone who means so much to me. When you make something, you leave a part of yourself in it.
